Frosted Blog – Read Through, Auditions & First Rehearsal.

Hi everyone, welcome to the first blog of SMPs new show Frosted – A family pantomime.

I’m Luke and I’m very happy to be directing this fantastic show. The script has been written once again by the incredibly talented Warren McWilliams and yet again he’s delivered a wonderful script suitable for the whole family and packed with great gags.

We have a brilliant MD in Mike Benyon (fresh from his success in MD’ing the incredible Urinetown) and I’m also very happy we have Fay Kemal bringing her talent to choreographing the show.

The story – well it might be slightly familiar if you’ve seen a certain recent icy-themed Disney movie, but it has its own twists and turns and is definitely a traditional panto at the same time.

We’ve assembled some fantastic songs to go in the show and have some really exciting ideas that I’m looking forwards to everyone seeing once we’ve sprinkled some SMP magic on it!

Well we had our read through and the hilarity in the room re-enforced what a great script we have.

Last Sunday and Monday we held our auditions and were once again blown away by the fantastic levels of talent SMP are blessed with being able to choose from. It made casting tough I can tell you because everyone was just so good!

The result is one of the strongest casts I can remember and it just makes me even more excited for the show we’re going to put together.

On Wednesday we had our first rehearsal and Mike, who celebrated his birthday with us, started teaching the opening number – a song he has written especially for the show and already it’s sounding fantastic so I can’t wait for you all to hear it.

Now we begin the process of putting the show together and I just can’t wait!!

Make sure to get your ticket orders in and don’t miss out on what should be a brilliant production!
