Much Ado About Nothing – Production Team Announced.

We’re very pleased to announce our production team for our next show, a promenade production of Much Ado About Nothing, in Bury Lodge Park.

The show is being produced by Warren McWilliams who will bring his considerable experience of putting together shows for the group. Warren is looking forward to working with the team and cast to develop their ideas and make them reality. He’ll also ensure that the challenges posed by staging this type of production are met and liaise with the separate teams to ensure that everything comes together on the night.

The show will be directed by David Bowman, who has directed a number of show for SMP and is a big fan of Shakespeare’s work. David had been pushing the idea of us taking on a full length Shakespeare play and the promenade style of performance for sometime so is over the moon that both his wishes have been granted with this production.

Whilst Much Ado is traditionally a straight play ours will include some music, singing and dancing. To that end we will be joined by:

Kate Sanders as Musical Director and Joseph Krajewski as choreographer.

Kate will be familiar to most for her dulcet tones in our shows. Having just MD’d her first show for SMP with Snow White Kate is straight back in the saddle for Much Ado and will ensure the show sounds great.

Joseph is another familiar SMP face and comes fresh from playing our leading man once again in panto. Despite being with the group for years this will be Joe’s first foray into choreographing for the group. He’s looking forward to the challenge of coming up with routines in the differing locations the show will move through.

Thankfully our show will be supported by our ever helpful tech team who’ll provide their professional knowledge and skills to generally advise, assist and contribute to the project management and delivery of this unique show.

The show wouldn’t be possible without the Friends of Bury Lodge park who have already been incredibly helpful so far. Thank you Denise and all the volunteers.

What’s a promenade performance? We hear you ask. Well, we’ll tell you;

We plan to produce an immersive, intimate and personal performance. As our audience arrive they become part of the ensemble and as the story flows they move through the park as one of Leonato’s, our play’s hosts, guests.

Our production will be unique to each audience member as they choose how they view the performance. The show will be free flowing, natural and organic with little or no barrier between cast and audience instead of a traditional audience and cast divide.

There will be no fourth wall, the audience will be guided toward the action, some of which will take part amongst them some which is more classically staged but the audience are free to move and view the performance however they choose. The abridged version of the play will contain music and dancing and promises to be a unique experience.

Intrigued? We hope so!

Our introduction night and auditions will take place Our introduction night for the show will take place on the 4th of Feb – You can find the FACEBOOK EVENT here and the show will be staged in the beautiful surroundings of Bury Lodge Park from the 5th-8th June 2019.
